All food is an acquired taste. This begins in childhood.  Culture often dictates what we will like or dislike, but this too can be changed as we train our tastebuds.

I am from the Island of jamaica where the foods are heavily spiced and few ate raw salads even with the unhealthy salad dressings that so many Americans love.  It was during my bout of near-death illnesses that I learned to retrain my tastebuds.  Years into the retraining, I have learned to be quite creative with my meals, though quite simple. Here I would like to share a delicious, yet simple and inexpensive Salad Recipe.  I hope you’ll try it and let me know what you think.

Ingredients:

Italian Parsley washed and chopped. 2 Leaves bokchoy washed and cut into tiny pieces. 1 thin slice raw red onion minced. 3 inches raw cabbage thinly shredded. 1 small baked sweet potato cut into small cubes with skin on. 1 handful walnuts. 1 cup cooked lentils. 3 inches cucumber cut into tiny cubes.  2 tbsp olive oil. 3 tbsp raw organic apple cider vinegar with the mother. 1 Haas avocado cut small. Mix everything together in a bowl. Enjoy!
