Since the beginning of the COVID Pandemic, there has been a clear understanding of the Health Community that Overweight & Obesity are high-risk factors for the infection and subsequent death.  As little as 10 pounds of excess weight can lead to hypertension, Type 11 Diabetes, Asthma and Bronchitis, Cardiovascular diseases, High Cholesterol, Strokes, Cancer, Sleep apnea, Osteoarthritis, Kidney Disease, Fatty liver, and even Gallbladder issues. These are some of the Pre-existing Health Risk Factors that predispose us to the infection, but, they can be reversed if we make the necessary lifestyle changes that will lead to better health and greater immunity.

By eating healthier foods in smaller portions, getting moderate exercise like walking for 30 minutes most days of the week, drinking plenty of water, getting adequate sleep, and decreasing our stress levels, getting some sunlight for vitamin D, we can be well on our way to losing some weight and keeping it off for good.

Choose veggies, particularly green veggies, which are low in calories but packed with Micronutrients.  These will keep you feel full so you can lose weight and will help to heal the body and boost your immune system so you can ward off infections and health issues. Fruits are nutritious, fiber-rich, and are a great alternative to cookies, crackers, cheese, candy.  Nuts are great snacks.

It is never too late to start taking care of yourself.  Today is a great day to begin.
